Is SPF barking on the wrong tree?

I am impressed by Singapore Police Force's (SPF) efficiency in apprehending a 13-years old Indian boy who posted a bomb-threat against Marina Bay IR. Although every sensible adult would doubt that the boy has the ablilty or means to carry out the act, an investigation is necessary since a police report had been made. The poor boy could be fined up to $100,000 and/or jailed up to five years if convicted.

On the other hand, there is a Singaporean Muslim, Mohd Alias Abdullah, who had been posting and asking how to make home-made bombs since 2011 but nothing had happened to him. Until today, he is still posting in the comfort of his home.

I'm sure an adult would definitely has more ability and knowledge to construct a bomb than a 13-year old. A bomb going off in Marina Bay IR or anywhere else in tiny Singapore would create the same level of chaos. So why is there no action against him?

If one were to look at his other postings, this guy is a trouble-maker and has no qualms in making his issue public. Maybe that is why the police had to ponder for so long how to act against him for fear of repercussion. Just a few hours before I posted this article, this guy actually offered to sell a pair of handcuff online which is clearly an offence in Singapore.

 

Today is also the 1st day of school and I wonder if the teachers in Si Ling Primary is having a hard time dealing with him. This Mohd Alias apparently went ahead in designing his own school uniform for his daughter and wants MOE to approve it!

So if SPF needs his particulars, I do not think it would be hard to find. Just check this police report made by him and you can go knocking on his door (There were postings that he was selling his flat sometime ago so he may not be staying in Yishun anymore).

(Editor's note: Mohd Alias, if you are reading this, which I'm sure you eventually will. Stop being a nuisance and complaining about everything and linking it to religion. You had registered your daughter into a secular school knowingly of its school rules and attire, then you turn around and say it is anti-islam? Muslims have Madrasah which you did not bother or try hard enough to ensure her entry so stop trying to blame others for your lack of effort. At least Muslim have Madrasah whereas I do not think Sikh have the same entitlement.)

Alfian Saat's Untold Secrets

According to Wikipedia (probably written by Alfian Sa'at himself), he is claimed to be known for his provocative works and is often referred to as his country's enfant terrible (Ia French term for a child who is terrifyingly candid by saying embarrassing things to adults). He is said to have been nominated for best script award at the Local Life Theater Awards 5 times. Some of his work was mentioned to have touched on homosexuality and Singapore-Malaysia bilateral relations. 

However, what that was not mentioned in Wiki was that in 2007, Alfian was removal from his relief teaching position in Ministry of Education for “not best meet the organisation's requirements”. He had been feeling sore and dejected ever since. This could be the reason why although born and raised in Singapore, Alfian somehow decided to seek refuge and shelter in Malaysia which he had since fondly describe with admiration. I would call it a blessing in disguise since Alfian had been posting happy stuff on his FB from Malaysia. Sadly, Alfian fails to realise the hypocrisy of his postings while doing so.

You see, Alfian has incessantly pronounce his dejection of treatment as second class citizen and the lackadaisical perception of Malays. So Alfian started travelling to Malaysia to sell his plays and books. When he is there, he repeated praise Malaysians for being tolerant towards him. He then turned around and mock at Singapore and Singaporeans. As a Malay saying goes "Bagai kacang lupakn kulit" (direct translation is "nut that forgets of its shell") meaning "somebody who forget his/her origins". This aptly applies to Alfian as he forgot his orgin so much that he took the effort to diss the entire NDP Song (http://newnation.sg/2012/07/alfian-saats-genius-take-on-ndp-song/) point by point.

 

Alfian Saat proclaimed himself to be a proud Muslim. When Alfian posted that Halal food is very common in Malaysia, many of his FB friends applauded him for insisting on having Halal food and keeping his faith strong. However, unknown to many, Alfian Saat is a gay Muslim and the boyfriend is a Chinese. Could this be the underlying reason for him feeling dejected in Singapore? 

I am sure Alfian knows that homosexuality is forbidden in Islam, it is taboo. It is a crime that is punishable by death in countries like Iran, Saudi Arabia and Yemen. For Malaysia, it is a guaranteed capital punishment. Just look at what happened to Anwar Ibrahim. Being known as homosexual can destory everything in a person's life.

If you are a boy, you cannot dress like a girl. This is “haram” too. 

One can argue that he was born this way just like Kumar (Singapore's funniest drag queen) or maybe there were also famous gay writers like Tennessee Williams, James Baldwin or Allen Ginsberg but sadly, if you are Muslim, you cannot be gay. Period. There is also no way that you can and will be accepted in Malaysia where many of its policies are aligned with Islam.

Oh...I wonder how does Alfian feel when the Malaysians call Singapore dog during the last Suzuki Cup (http://sg.sports.yahoo.com/news/malaysia-dog-football-chant-riles-singapore-fans-055434743--sow.html). How do you feel being called a dog by people from the same country that you admire so much? 

So good luck Aflian and stop contridicting yourself. 

(Editor's Note: I have to clarify that nothing against Gays. In fact, I hang out with some on a regular basis. I just dislike people who are so gutless to comment on government polices objectively for fear of backlash but is ever critical on racial stuff and stoking resentment amongst races from a distance.)

Malay musician sow discord to disaffect Malay/Muslims

A reader emailed me this article and requested that I publish it. So here it goes and you guys decide after reading it.

While many Singaporeans are contented living in harmony in Singapore, popular Malay musician and arts activist Art Fazil had created ruckus when he posted a photo of Muslims receiving alms from Buddhist monks in front of a Buddha statue during the holy month of Ramadan on Facebook. A photo taken from Suria channel evening Malay news was intentionally taken out of context to sow discord among the Muslims and the non-Muslims. Supporters of Art Fazil felt that the collection of alms in front of a Buddha statue was inappropriate. They even urged Muslims should not be too tolerant towards other religions at the expense of Islam, which opposes idol worship.

It is sad to see such a benevolent act from the Buddhist community was slammed with negativity from the Art Fazil and his ardent supporters. Obviously, this is not the view of majority of Malay Muslims who value the harmony in Singapore. Besides, who would reject and criticized a kind gesture of giving without receiving. Perhaps it stems from Art Fazil’s deep-seated desire to "make a difference", or maybe it is motivated purely out of arrogance, insecurity and an insatiable need for publicity. The simple truth is that when musicians dabble in politics, they generally end up trivialising the issues they espouse, in the process making themselves look foolish and their audience feel patronised.

Just last week, Art Fazil and his Malay supporters even exclaimed “ethnic cleansing” citing fears that the Chinese in Singapore will be outnumbered by other races following a photo that briefly detailed a regulation to stop naming roads in Malay. Failing to understand and harmonised with our multicultural landscape and keep on harping on the issue of Malay discrimination, Art Fazil and gang blindly discuss on topics which lacked background research. Such tactlessness can be very fatal in tiny country firstly because Singapore is a cocktail of many racial groups. Secondly, Art Fazil's professionalism in the music industry is questionable as he has failed to guard his public image by engaging in such immature jape. There are many ways to conduct discussion, and blindly discussing it on Facebook to create animosity among the Malay/Muslims is definitely an inappropriate approach. 

Art Fazil who is a pro-Workers’ Party and Singapore Democratic Party supporter dabbled in seditious tendency memes to forward socio-political issues affecting the Muslims in Singapore through his alter ego ‘Mas Riddim’.  Art Fazil stirs up the Malay-Muslim discrimination in Singapore by citing Article 152 and 153 of the Singapore Constitution and blamed it on the PAP leaders for being unconstitutional. Instead of rationalizing issues and binding Singaporeans together, Art Fazil has created disaffection within the Malay Muslim community and isolating them from living in harmony with the rest of the community.  So what is his motive in doing all these scrooge gimmicks?
